The daughter's first name was Ria and she and her family kept the business after Friedel retired. After Amalie was not able to live alone in the early 1980s she moved in with her daughter and there she died in Mainz-Gonsenheim on 20.02 1984.

- 4.4.....Josef Karl "Seppel" Schulz (*28.12.1902 Mz-Weisenau, +1993)
- Seppel was a locksmith. The name of his first wife is not known. They had no children and they were divorced. His second marriage was with Elisabeth "Else" Marie Sattler (*1926 Pusch, today the Czech Republic, +7.08.2012 Wiesbaden) on 31.7.1954. Elisabeth was the daughter of Karl Sattler, a carpenter, and Anna Strobl. The family lived in Pusch, a village near the town of Eger in the present day Czech Republic, which had a large German minority. After WWII the German population was expelled, resulting in the Sattler-family living in a refugee camp in Mainz (Rosengartenlager). Later the Sattler family settled in Mainz-Gustavsburg, some on the same street where the Schömbs had their butcher shop.
Seppel worked for the chemical industry (Kalle-Werke) and specializised in some certain techniques of welding, that were needed there. Because of this he was not drafted into the army in WWII. In the war years he supported a younger French forced labourer (Zwangsarbeiter) from Mello/Oise, whose first name was Pierre. Pierre was in bad physical condition because the forced labourers had to work very hard and did not get enough food or medical treatment. Seppel was able to get him out of the company to work as a helper in his house and garden where Pierre lived together with them until to the end of war. Many people had small farms at their homes in those times, like having a goat and breeding rabbits. Pierre visited the Schulz in the 1950s and invited Josef and his wife Elisabeth to a vacation/journey to France. In 1956 they went there. It was the only big vacation in their life. Out of this relationship they named their son Peter (German for Pierre). The contact between the Schulz and Pierre continued until the beginning of the 1970s.
Historical Note: Zwangsarbeit was forced labour during World War II when German men were called up for military service and German authorities rounded up labourers from the occupied territories to fill in the vacancies. Arbeitseinsatz was not restricted to the industrial sector or to arms factories. It also took place in the farming sector, community services, and even in the churches. Affected populations included men and women from Eastern Europe, prisoners of war and concentration camps, Dutch, Jews, Sinti, Romany, Yenish and Jehovah's Witnesses. In 1945 about 7.7 million workers in German industry were of non-German origin. Many of them were very young, and about half of them were women.

 |
| Katharina Schembs |
Hermann Gustav Grawitz |
- Her husband Hermann Gustav Grawitz (1878-1967) came from Halberstadt in the eastern part of Germany. Hermann had come through his profession to Laubenheim. He was a blacksmith by trade, and had traveled in learning his profession. When he got to Laubenheim, he decided to stay. He found employment at the Forge of Franz Binger I, whose blacksmith shop on Kirchstraße was diagonally across the street from the later family home (Kirchstraße Nr. 8). They bought the house through an auction on 3 December 1912. It was more than 350 years old, making it one of the oldest buildings in Laubenheim. It was only later renovated externally. The wood under the plaster, however, was still very old. The clay mortar and the timbers lay exposed at some points. The building was expensive at 4,010 Mark. The awkward part of the auction was that the sister of Katharina, Magdalena Heuberger (nee Schembs) lived in the house with her husband. The house was apparently in the family, because all of the siblings of Katharina Schembs were at the auction and benefited financially from the high price paid by Katharina and Hermann Grawitz. The Heubergers, who lived in the house, naturally had the greatest interest in acquiring it and continuing to live there. Since Hermann Grawitz had submitted a higher bid, he received the house in which later the son Karl and the Uncle lived. This led to tensions and decades of friction within the Heuberger family.
 |
| Steigbrief from the year 1912 |
- The house, which lay between the house of Eugen Hoss and the Fleck-Emde house on what is today Pfarrer-Goedecker-Straße, was razed in 1995 together with the house of the Emdes. On the site were built several condominiums. Before the demolition, Hermann Grawitz, the grandson of Hermann and Katharina Grawitz, photographed the buildings for posterity.
