CLICK to trace the ancestors of Johannes Georg Schönhardt

The Story needs to be written with the help of the descendants of Georg.

The Story of Georg Schönhardt (1811 Germany, +1869 Brownsville MN)

Johannes Georg Schönhardt was born 13 May 1811 in Mommenheim/Lorzweiler. In about 1838 he married a woman with the given name Mary (*~1820, +01.12.1879). Their only child was born the next year in Germany. It is believed that they then emigrated to Amerika about a year later, or in about 1840. They first settled in Jo Daviess County, Illinois, later moving to Brownsville, Minnesota.

Descendants of Georg Schönhardt

For purposes of brevity, Bridgewater, South Dakota, is in McCook County. This will not not be repeated on every line.

Jacob was married on 11 Nov 1865 to an Irish immigrant, Mary A Colin (*Abt. 1840 Ireland (or perhaps Scotland), +Aft. 1915 South Dakota). The wedding was in Galena IL.

Based upon the birthplaces of the children, the family lived in Minnesota after the marriage. Then in about 1870 they moved to Elk Point in the Dakota Territory. They had their first three children. By 1980 they had moved to Yankton, South Dakota.[1] In 1880 Jacob was a lumber dealer. The family had a domestic, Kilie Johnson, age 17 and the daughter of Irish immigrants, living and working in the home.
