The SCHÖMBS FAMILIENTREFFEN 2015

For the fourth time the cousins of the Schömbs family came together from the far reaches of the Globe (France, Canada, Australia, Israel, the United States and Germany). It was the largest group of Ausländer (foreigners) we have had. In all 49 people came from outside Germany for the party. A few were Germans living abroad but more than 40 were citizens of other countries. In all about 150 family members participated in the Familientreffen (family meeting).

Friday twentyfive of us went to Wahlheimer Hof, Undenheim, Laubenheim and Zornheim. We then toured the cellars at CHATEAU SCHEMBS and tasted the wines. Dinner was at the Sandwiese where many of us were staying. Saturday morning half the group went to Heidelberg and the Castle while the rest visited the Dom in Worms, then went to Freinsheim for a private showing of the sculptures of Walter and Eckhard Schembs and the light painting of Johannes Schembs. Saturday afternoon and evening was the main party at CHATEAU SCHEMBS. Sunday we went on a river cruise down the Rhein (the German spelling), enjoying the views of medieval castles and picturesque villages along the riverbank. We finished the day with a wonderful dinner in Oppenheim and then more merriment back at the Sandwiese.
