The SCHÖMBS FAMILIENTREFFEN 2008

Once again the cousins of the Schömbs family came together from various parts of the World (France, Ireland, Netherlands, Brazil, Taiwan, United States and Germany). Friday about thirty of us went to Undenheim and St. Albans Hof. Saturday afternoon was the main party at the Hernnsheimer Schloß. Sunday twenty-five of us went on a river cruise down the Rhein (the German spelling), enjoying the views of medieval castles and picturesque villages along the riverbank. We then visited the Dom (Cathedral) in Mainz, first completed in the year 975, and ended the weekend with a wonderful meal at the Heiliggeist Restaurant in Mainz, also built in about the year 1000 as a hospital for the poor.
